July 12 and 13, 2025 | Newport, Kentucky

From the stage to the convention floor, Final Girls brought their signature blend of feminist horror analysis and infectious enthusiasm to Ghouliecon, and the horror community embraced us with open arms (and maybe a few screams).

Breaking Down Barriers with the Housewives of Horror

Panelists (left to right): Sarah and Kellie from Final Girls, JoAnna from Coven of Screams, Creepy Confidential, Anaya Davis, Ashley from Sledgehammer Horror, Doom Buddies

The weekend kicked off with us joining an incredible panel called "Housewives of Horror," dedicated to celebrating women in the horror genre. Alongside fellow femme creators who are reshaping the landscape of horror media, we dove deep into the unique perspectives women bring to this beloved (and often misunderstood) genre.

The conversation was electric. We explored everything from the evolution of female characters in horror to how women creators are reclaiming narratives that have historically been told through a male lens. It was the perfect platform for discussing our podcast's mission: celebrating the Final Girls who don't just survive, but fight back.

Live Recording: When the Scream Things Became Our Co-Hosts

But the real magic happened during our live podcast recording. With a room full of horror enthusiasts, all gathered to watch us do what we do best: dissect the brilliance of Final Girl characters. This time, though, our incredible Scream Things (our listeners) got to choose which Final Girl we'd spotlight - and they picked Heather from The Blair Witch Project.

There's something absolutely electric about recording in front of a live audience. Every laugh, every gasp, every moment of recognition when we hit on something that resonates all becomes part of the show. Our listeners became part of the conversation, creating an energy that you simply can't replicate in a home studio. It reminded us why we started this podcast in the first place — to create a space where horror fans can come together and celebrate the women who face down the unthinkable.
